Hello, my name is Lynda and my current major is in Public Service & Public Policy with a concentration in Leadership and Management.  My internship this semester will be with my full time employment.  I currently work at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold as a Site Staffing Specialist in the Human Resource Department.  I have been employed with this company for 1 1/2 years, and my main focus is specializing in recruiting and staffing.

Goals that I hope to achieve are:
  • Learn more about the production of Copper, Molybdenum, and Gold
  • Expand information about our student intern/college program
  • Familiarize getting to know the different departments; along with the Hiring Managers
  • Continue leading in the interviewing and hiring selection process
  • Decreasing the amount of our department's requisitions/positions
It's an exciting company to be a part of and helping me grow to become more knowledgeable in the Human Resource field.

  1. Hey Lynda,

your internship sounds like a tremendous opportunity to get your foot in the door, if you haven't already. I was reading your intro and saw that we have similar training and experience. Your with Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold as a Site Staffing Specialist in the Human Resource Department and I am working in a branch of Human Resources online my work is private sector. I think it is amazing and influential that you are able to participate in the interviewing and hiring selection process. Good luck and I look forward to hearing more about your internship.

  2. Your internship/ job sounds like a great fit for a PSPP degree holder! I'd also be interested to hear how you've been able to balance working full time with classes, as I know that can be very difficult (maybe for a free write?).

  3. This is the perfect opportunity for you to network for Freeport-McMoran Copper and Gold. People are always looking for internships and opportunities to get hired on. Especially in this tough competitive society, it is difficult for recent graduates to receive a job right outside of graduation. Hopefully you taking this class will be able to network and expand the company.
