Free Write - Freeport-McMoRan and United Way Partnered to Assist Non-Profit Organizations

Freeport-McMoRan through United Way assisted 22 non-profit organizations in Bisbee, Douglas, Naco and Pirtleville.  Through Freeport's matching gifts program, employees raised approximately $52,000.

The program matches any employee's charitable financial contribution of $25 or more.  The first $500 contribution per organization is double matched and any amount above $500 is single matched.

Eligible organizations include educational institutions, social services organizations, hospitals, environmental organizations, cultural institutions and United Way chapters.

United Way works with volunteers, donors, agencies, which raise and distribute funds based upon need to strengthen community capacity and individual ability to care for one another.  It's a great organization.  They will be helping seven local organizations which include House of Hope, Lutheran Social Services, Pirtleville Community Action Network, Raul Castro Learning Center, St. Vicente de Paul, Students against Destructive (SADD) and the Douglas Youth Activity Program.

One of the United Ways goals is to provide the opportunity for people to have a good live, a quality education that leads to stable jobs, enough income to support a family through retirement and good health.  That is why they focus on building blocks for a good life!
