Larry Overman and his wife purchased Crescent Mine in Portland, Oregon in 2009, not knowing at the time that it would soon be the center of the paranormal reality show Syfy. The Overmans purchased the mine with the intention of reopening the mine and producing gold -- they wanted to make money.
Apparently, there is a long history attached with Crescent Mine and many believe it to be haunted. There are some strange sights and sounds going on in the mine. Television cameras and production crews are in their second season; Ghost Mine (http://www.syfy.com/ghostmine).
The Overmans are just running it as a business but are starting to believe it might be haunted and something strange is going on. Stacie Overman when she first entered the mine was 2,000 feet into the mine and had heard conversations taking place between two men. It has happened a few times to her where when investigated no people appeared. Larry Overman believes it's echoes or the earth moving. His theory is, and most miners, that if you don't hear the ground talking to you, there's something wrong. A lot of guys he says can predict small earthquakes because the ground quits making noise!
The Overmans have indicated not everyone are believers, but if you're a skeptic, watch Ghost Mine.
It is beautiful scenery and about 7,900 feet up on the mountain -- that alone is really awesome!
YIKES! Sounds like I'll be avoiding that area! Two years ago I went on a ghost hunt in Salem, Massachusetts the night before Halloween. I don't know what I was thinking as I'm a HUGE baby when it comes to things like that, but I figured, I'd never be in Salem for Halloween again, so why not?! It was definitely not something I'd do again haha I'm pretty sure I believe in ghosts and want to keep them as far away from me as possible. Live and let live (or not live haha).
