Our company demonstrates public service in many ways, especially since it is operating nationally and internationally. Even though Freeport-McMoRan is a private organizations, we provide many services to the public. Between the Moly, Gold, Copper, Ore, etc., these products are found in many products that people need and buy. These products are in cell phones, computers, aerospace products, airplanes, and are a necessity to the public. These products would not be able to function without these supplies and resources.
We also provide such a public service by helping out charitable organizations such as many non-profit organizations providing money and physical assistance with volunteer organizations. Our company matches dollar per dollar for donations -- it's a great benefit to the public.
I have worked with both public and private organizations, and working currently in the private field, has made me realize that we are still providing to the public through our resources and services also through products. It's a great organization to be a part of, and I feel very lucky being involved with such a great company! Also, another benefit to public service is also providing employment to individuals nationally and internationally to provide for their families.
This is an interesting perspective on how a private company provides a public service. I thought most interns were working for government agencies, but we have quite a variety!
ReplyDeleteI am currently interning at a non-profit. It is great to hear companies both in the private and public sector are giving back. There are large amounts of people who need help in this world and everything helps.
